Most Beautiful Places in Japan for Landscape Photography

Volcanic Mount Aso

Mount Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture offers breathtakingly beautiful mountains, mountains, along with an active volcano. Also, for safety reasons, you can no longer drive on the road of Laputa, which inspired the movie Ghibli’s “Castle in the Sky”. However, it is still a wonderful region to see as you can see all the attractions along the way to the mountain by car or just by bus. In the winter, it was gorgeous, with all the ice covering the ground. You can see the smoldering volcano. Also, you can see incredible mountain ranges and some waterfalls.

Torohki No Taki Waterfall

Yakushima was among my all-time favorite areas in Japan. Of all the places I saw in Yakushima, Torohki-no-taki was undoubtedly the most magical for me. But, you need to note that it needs a little bit of extra effort to get there because of the lack of public transportation. The island offers many sweet adventure elements such as a waterfall, sites for canoeing, and many mountains ideal for hiking. It’s best in the summer or early fall when you’re much better connected to public transportation and can take many more tours. The most expensive ferry, which leaves every two hours, costs 15,000 yen round trip.

Jigokudani Monkey Park

The next place is Jigokudani Monkey Park. This place is great to see the rare snow monkeys and take a wonderful shot of a little hot spring town. It is also a great place to go skiing. I was surprised by how awesome Nagano is. The walk through the fighter park will take some time, but it’s worth it. Please note that this place closes earlier than usual in the middle of winter: 4 pm for Monkey Park and 3 pm for spring.

Beppu Region

Beppu and the nearby Yufuin region, both located in Oita Prefecture, are favorite areas in Japan. What makes this place special is that you can enjoy the amazing hot spring onsens and beautiful scenery. At the hot springs, you can steam food, a type known as Jigoku Mushi. You can also get a steam bath for your feet in an area just a two-minute walk away in the steaming area. You can take a bus to my favorite place from Beppu Springs, the Kintetsu Rope Trail in Yufuin, to see the beautiful natural parks and fall foliage.
